The company’s one-of-a-kind tool quantifies its products’ contribution to two LEED credit categories - recycled content and regional materials. Hanson Pipe & Precast’s LEED calculator differs from other similar concepts, in that Hanson calculates the complete report, leaving no further steps or costs for project owners.
The LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building
Rating System is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings. Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), the LEED rating system provides building owners and operators a concise framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions.
Hanson Pipe & Precast decided to create a LEED calculator, not only to provide a convenient option for our customers, but to promote sustainability and show that our concrete products are a sustainable and environmentally-friendly choice.
Hanson Pipe & Precast recognized the need for our customers to be able to receive precise LEED information as opposed to approximate values without creating extra work for the customer. Working with Green Building Services (GBS) in Portland, Ore., a leading green building consultant, we developed a calculator that provides the applicable information required for LEED credits and the exact output based on your specific project requirements.
Hanson Pipe & Precast’s LEED report is very detailed, displaying the actual mileage and the exact LEED approved recycled content percentages of products, both in weight and dollar amounts. Because most of our products are engineered for a specific job, they require customized calculations for each customer.
Once you request the LEED data and the necessary project information is provided, the calculation is typically completed within a few business days.
Since the development of Hanson’s LEED calculator, we have been able to successfully provide our customers with LEED data and sustainable products in diverse projects including an international airport, federal prison, several universities and schools, medical centers, police and fire stations and various military projects.
